Safe City Youth Leadership

A Good Idea

Description

Safe City Youth Leadership Team (SCYLT) is a group of twenty young individuals (ages 14-17) who take an active role in improving their community. The youth contribute to various community projects, receive leadership training, and promote community and civic engagement.

The group also hosts an annual Youth Summit, an all-day event featuring a key-note speaker, interactive workshops, entertainment, and roundtable discussions. The goal of the Summit is to challenge youth to engage in meaningful dialogue with city leaders about topics that are important to them such as health, safety, secondary education and job readiness.

Goal / Mission

The group’s mission is to improve the leadership skills of Denver’s youth while supporting and improving the community.

Results / Accomplishments

The Safe City Youth Leadership Team has planned and coordinated the annual Youth Summit for the past fifteen years. Since its inception, over 15,000 youth and adults have attended the Summit.
