Male Prostate Cancer Rate

County: Pratt
Measurement Period: 2014-2018

This indicator shows the age-adjusted rate per 100,000 male population diagnosed with male prostate cancer.

Why is this important?

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men, except for skin cancers. In Kansas, prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed invasive cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death among men. The chance of getting prostate cancer goes up as a man gets older. Most prostate cancers are found in men over the age of 65. African American men and Caribbean men of African ancestry are more likely to develop prostate cancer than men of other races. Having one or more close relatives with prostate cancer also increases a man’s risk of having prostate cancer.
