Age-Adjusted Hospitalization Rate due to Heart Attack

County: Pratt
Measurement Period: 2015
This indicator shows the average annual age-adjusted hospitalization rate due to heart attack per 10,000 population aged 35 years and older.

Why is this important?

Heart attack, or myocardial infarction, is a well-known type of cardiovascular disease. A heart attack occurs when the blood flow to the heart is blocked, and the lack of oxygen and nutrients results in heart damage or death. According to the CDC, approximately 720,000 Americans have a heart attack every year. Improving cardiovascular health decreases the likelihood of heart attack. Educating those at risk and improved access to care can help improve outcomes and decrease mortality after a heart attack.
